State Committee of West Bengal organized two days 5th State Convention of West Bengal in Siliguri on 10th and 11th Jan'09. A large number of delegates and observers of West Bengal attended the function and discussed various issues related to West Bengal and East Zone. Sh. Ashok Bhattachrji, H'ble Minister Urban Development, West Bengal innaugurated the function. Valedictory function was graced by Smt. Minoti Sen, Hon'ble MP, lok sabha, (New Jalpaiguri) as the Chief Guest and Sh. Raj Kamal , Dy. Director General (Admin & Finance) AIR as Guest of Honor. East Zone officials represented by Sh. R.G.Dastidar, Diretor (Engg) & Sh. Tanvir Alalm , D.D.E. . Sh. R.N.Choudhry, Suptg.Engr. and Sh. S.C.Debnath, SE, also present on the occasion. Sh. Raj Kamal DDG (A & F) informed the members about the progress on various issues on behalf of management.

From Centarl office Sh. Umesh Chandra, Gen.Secy., Sh. R.Raman VP(TV), Sh. G.M.Tyagi, Secy.(S.Tech/Tech), Sh. Pulak Ray, Editor Filament and Sh. Rajesh Gautam, DG Council Member TV graced the function. Sh. Umesh Chandra and Sh. Raman replied a vide range of questions from categorization, stagnation , Cadre review, ACP etc and provided the members the vital information.

Sh. Maloy Kr. Dass, VP(EZ), Sh. S.Ghosh, AGS(AIR), Sh. U.K,Shukla AGS(TV) , Sh. S.Goswamy, JS SEA/EA), Sh. Madhab K.Das JS S.Tech/Tech, Sh. Gopal Panja Secy (Helper) represented the Zonal office of East Zone. The delegate session was a satisfying one where members updated themselves with the information provided by leaders.
The excellent effort by Sh. Khagendra Nath Das, State Secy. Of West Bengal along with his team deserves a big applause and appreciation for their organizational skills, an impressive function. Sh. Dhruv Bhaumik, Ex State Secy. WB and Sh. Ananda Bhatacharji provided full support to organize the event. The function was also attended by Senior leaders like Sh. Prokash Chakraborty who took active part in the convention and enlighten the members about the need to strengthen the organization.

After the convention central leaders visited and conducted a series of meetings in All India Radio and Doordarshan Kendra of Gangtok. Sh Shubhomay Majumdar, Unit Secy. DDK Gangtok coordinated these meetings.
