Let us Protect our Associations to protect ourselves

Dear Comrades,

It will be a wonder for our members and even for the public that when the entire country, irrespective of political             affiliations, rallied behind Shri. Anna Hazare for the move against corruption we, the recognised Associations of AIR & DD are on the cross roads facing the victimisation by the management for making voice for the just cause of the employees and react against the corruption practices by some top most officials.

This time, some top officials of the management who want to destroy all recognized Associations in the department perhaps by dreaming that they can do whatever misdeeds they want if they can finish staff Associations. Now the attack is from the officer holding the post of Additional Secretary(Broadcasting) in Ministry of I&B and Nominated Member in Prasar Bharati, officiating as CEO, Prasar Bharati.

AS you all are aware, the said officer issued letter to the District Magistrats (District Collector) throughout the country declaring all the three Associations (ARTEE, ADTEA &PSA) are non recognised. We have immediately issued letter to the Minister of I&B with all the details and we are grateful to you that some of our members already approached the DMs with the details as per our call.

Now the acting CEO issued another order declaring that no  Association is recognised in AIR & DD and thereby no privileges will be provided. Accordingly he diretced zonal CEs to issue transfer orders for all office bearers of especially both ARTEE & ADTEA.

On 12/9/2011, CE (NZ) issued transfer orders, disturbing senior office bearers of both Associations. On 13/9/2011, CE (WZ) issued orders disturbing our zonal office bearers and orders from other zones are expected at any time. It is not a question of transfer of any individuals but blatant attack on the right to organise the workers  and with a single motive to destroy the Associations.

we are not against transfers, but these transfers  are a challenge to democratic right of the employees in the largest democracy of the world.

It is very clear from some latest incidents that the said officer want to silent the Associations since he fear that, these Associations will not allow him for misdeeds, may it be in his efforts to get DTH system on rental basis on more annual expenditure compare to procure it for Doordarshan, for handing over projects  and stations to BECIL etc. (Ministry refused to restore sanction of posts in Zonal offices since perhaps they don’t want the projects to be done by our officials)

We cannot & will not allow such officer to attack our Associations and it is decided in the meeting of SSS that we will explore all possibilities to protect our Associations & its leaders.

Struggles and fighting for justice are not new to the employees of AIR &DD, in whatever reputed Association they are.

While fulfilling the responsibility towards the members to protect their financial, functional and social rights and to fight against the victimization/harassment of working class, we had been compelled to agitate on many occasions for the issues like working & living conditions, career prospects, rightful remunerations, downsizing of staff, outsourcing etc.

Remember: whatever we have today – from fixed duty hours, defined holidays, bonus along the employees of other central government departments etc to pay scales, status of government employees, benefits of 6th Pay Commission, MACP etc …etc - are due to the united strength of members of these Associations under various platforms from time to time. These were not granted by the mercy of the management or any top bosses but due to the strength of unity & determination of the employees only.
If every member think with a cool mind, they will agree that we have achieved a lot of things due the strength of the Association when we compare with our counterparts in various organisations & corporations. We do agree that we have lot of things further to achieve for every cadre. But for that the basic requirement is stronger Associations to protect us & fight for us.

It is learnt from reliable sources that Ministry is preparing to withdraw the benefits of order dated 25.2.1999 and diffuse all court cases (One Pay One cadre, ACP, Notional Fixation for Technician etc) on the basis this decision.

SSS, in the meeting held today decided to start the agitation as per the schedule given below:
