Subject:           Departmental Competitive Examination for the promotion of Senior Technician  etc. to the post of Engineering Assistant against 10% departmental quota of the year 2005-2006 for North Zone and 2006-07 for other zones.

1.         A Departmental Competitive Examination for the promotion of Senior Technician, etc. to the post of Engineering Assistants will be held on 27.05.2007 from 10:30 hours to 13:00 hours at the following centres:

            i) Delhi    ii) Mumbai   iii) Chennai   iv) Kolkata   v)Guwahati

Please note that the number of these vacancies are tentative and may change.

3.                   The candidates will appear for the examination at  their Zonal headquarters.

4.                   Senior Technicians in AIR/Doordarshan with five years service in the grade rendered after appointment thereto on a regular basis or with eight years total service in the grade of Technician and Senior Technician rendered after appointment to these grades on a regular basis or Mast Technicians/Diesel Technicians who have put in eight years service in the grade rendered after appointment thereto on a regular basis, as on 01.01.2005 for North zone candidates and 01.01.2006 for other zone candidates will be eligible to appear in the examination.

5.                   Heads of Stations/Kendras/Offices are advised to send the names of eligible and willing candidates directly to the Zonal Chief Engineer.  It may be noted that the names sent to STI(T) by stations will not be considered.

6.         The medium of the examination will be English or Hindi as the candidate may opt for.

7.         The examination will consist of only one paper of two and a half hours duration.

8.                   The syllabus for the examination has already been circulated in the Training News Bulletin Issue No. 32 (July-September, 1999.) and is also available on STI(T) Website http://education.vsnl.com/stitair.  This may please be brought into to the notice of SeniorTechnicians/MastTechnicians/Diesel Technicians working at your Station/Kendra/Office.

9.         The Zonal Chief Engineer will intimate the station concerned about the Roll Numbers of the candidates, exact location of the examination centres and other details.

10.        Zonal Chief Engineer will intimate the names of the candidates along with their roll numbers to        STI(T) latest by 20.04.2007.

11.        Mobile phones are not allowed inside the examination hall.

12.        Heads of Stations/Offices/Kendras in which candidates are working should send a letter authorising the candidates to appear in the examination at the allotted centre together with three specimen signatures of the candidate, duly attested, to the Examination Superintendent of the concerned centre.  The Superintendent of the centre will obtain the signatures and verify the same.  Then only the candidate would be allowed to appear in the examination.  The candidates must carry with them their identity card issued by their office throughout the examination period and produce the same to the Examination Superintendent on demand.   These instructions may please be brought to the notice of the candidates for strict compliance.
