On 17th May 05, NFADE delegation consisting of Sh. R. Dasgupta, Sh. Sangam Thakur, Sh. Ashish Bhatnagar, Sh. S.C. Nayak and Sh. Kuldeep Bhan met Shri M.V. Kamath, Chairman, Prasar Bharati, at Ashoka Hotel. He had then just arrived from Mumbai and NFADE representatives were hesitant to discuss with Sh. Kamath. However he was forthcoming and full of warmth. He discussed all the problems in great details and shared our views that Prasar Bharati cannot run in the way it is running today. He assured all possible help in getting the problems addressed. He frankly admitted that either Prasar Bharati is to be sufficiently funded, or license fee to be levied immediately . Our suggestion of getting it funded on lines with UPSC, Supreme Court and Election Commission also was received by him very well. He promised the delegation that he would take the issue to highest level and meet the Prime Minister and others for final solution. This issue would be taken up with parliamentarians, party in power and opposition. He also talked to Sh. L.K. Advani, the leader of opposition over phone and asked for an urgent appointment to discuss these pressing problems. The delegation along with chairman met Sh. Advani at 9.00 pm. There were detailed discussions on all the relevant issues. Meeting lasted for nearly 50 minutes. Sh. Advani promised to take up the issue with the Prime Minister and UPA Chairperson and assured of a solution very soon.
