OFFICE MEMORANDUM

SUBJECT: CCS (LTC) Rules, 1998 - Visit to Andaman & Nicobar Islands instead of Home Town LTC and travel by air from Kolkata or Chennai to Port Blair and back - relaxation thereof.

The undersigned is directed to say that in relaxation of rule 8 of the CCS(LTC) rules, 1988, the Government have now decided to allow all eligible Central Government employees to avail LTC to visit Andaman & Nicobar Islands instead of their home town in their home town in their entitled mode and class of travel. It has also been decided in relaxation of rule 12 of the said rules to permit all Group A and B Government servants to avail this facility by air economy (Y) class on national carrier only from Kolkata or Chennai to Port Blair and back and allow air fare reimbursement accordingly.

2. These orders ahall be in operation for a period of six months from the date of issue.

3. In their application to the staff serving in the Indian Audit & Accounts Department, these orders issue after consultation with the Comptroller & Auditor Genaral of India.

ARTEE OFFICE BEARER ON A BOLD MISSION TOWARDS A WORLD RECORD:

Sh.Ashwani Dagar, Website administrator, ARTEE, a distinguished CWC member has taken a lead as Team Leader to attempt for a rare fete, a World Record.

Presently Sh.Dagar is leading a tour of dare devil motor bike riders of AIR & Doordarshan on an attempt to climb five highest motorable mountain tops in Ladakh region along with S/s Naved Sarosh and R.K.Sharma from Doordarshan, Delhi and Sh.Bharat Bajaj from Central Stores, AIR are the other members of the team.

The team will attempt to cover all the Five Highest Passes namely Tanglang La(17852 ft.), Chang La(17800 ft.), Marsimik La(18632 ft.),, Wari La(17404 ft.) & Khardungla(18382 ft.) in a record time in one go to claim for a pride place in the Limca Book Of Records. They will cover a distance of 596km under adverse terrain & weather conditions.

Sh.S.Jaipal Reddy,Hon'ble Minister for I&B flagged off the team from New Delhi on 02.08.2005. Sh.K.S.Sarma, CEO, Prasar Bharati, Sh.N.S.Ganesan, Engineer-in-Chief, Doordarshan and a large number of collegues from AIR & Doordarshan were present during the impressive flag off ceremony.
